Driving License Renewal Process in Sri Lanka

I know when you think of doing some work out of government office it would take 2–3 days right ? Wrong
The RMV has managed to come up with a process that you can renew your driving license with in 2 hours. Whoa that's quick right. Let me tell you how the process works.
If you have a expiring soon follow the below steps.

1.Book a health certificate via e-channeling site.

Once you book your appointment you will get a confirmation from e-channeling via SMS with the booking date and appointment number

2. On the Medical Test day make sure you appear at the place 30 minutes early. They will take you inside according to the appointment number sequentially.

Once they take you in they will do a blood test you for blood sugar and blood pressure. Also they do test to check your eye sight and reflexes by doing some minor exercises.

All these will take around 40 minutes and you will receive the medical certificate.

3. After that call 0112677877 and book a date at RMV. The call is fully automated you just have to go through the steps. Once you confirm the nearest booking date you will receive a confirmation SMS.

4. Same as the medical appointment day make sure you arrive at the place 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. Also make sure you take the below 2 documents.

Passport or your National Identity card
Old Driving licenses card
Medical certificate

They will take you in according to the appointment number where you have to show the SMS of your appointment number.
Also Make sure you take some cash with you as they don't accept any card payment or any electronic payment methods.

The whole process will take around 30–40 minutes and you will get a temporary license valid for 5 months. Mean time they will register post the license to your home within 6 weeks.
